Motherless ...highlights four women; Shaunte, Brooklyn, Bernice, and Cherri as they all grow through the stages of grief: denial, bargaining, depression, and then finally acceptance after their mother’s passing. They all take a step into vulnerability and arrive at honest moments in their lives where it forces them to not only see their truth, but to speak it. Some for the first time. As they pause to acknowledge the burdensome weight without their mothers, tensions rise as these women work through their triggers of “mommy issues" and try to navigate forward as they define what it means to heal. Through shared pain, anger, and trauma bonding, these women heal in ways they would never imagine. This play is for anyone who has lost someone important to them and courageously lives on.
